Dear Hardeeville Elementary Families,

 

As principal of Hardeeville Elementary, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you.  Our entire school team looks forward to partnering with you to make sure your child has a wonderful school year.

 

We are fortunate to have such a beautiful campus that serves as our home away from home. We will grow academically together and support one another throughout our educational journey. I am truly honored to be a part of Hardeeville Elementary School.  I look forward to building partnerships and working to educate every student, as we serve our students and families with dignity and respect.

 

A teacher I have known and greatly respected for many years sends a letter home to her students and their parents each year before school begins.  I would like to share her story with you:

 

“One summer I vacationed on an island in the Caribbean.  While there, I visited a sand bar where stingrays are so tame that they take squid right out of your hand.  When the captain said we could jump in, I was the first off the boat and into the water.  Although many in the group remained off to the side, frightened by the large group of stingrays, I quickly moved right to the middle of them – without any hesitation at all.  It’s amazing to see these huge creatures come right up to my side, almost begging for attention (and food!).  Here I was in the middle of dozens of them.  And this is where I intend to be with my students: right in the middle of their lives.  And that is where all of us – parents, educators and community volunteers – need to be.”

 

We know that we learn best from those we know best, and that includes each other.  During the school year we will have many occasions to get to know each other better.  I welcome these opportunities and look forward to working with all of you.
