Art Hello! I am Heidi Roche the art teacher at Hardeeville Elementary. Throughout the school year, students will be learning many things about art. We focus on the elements and principles of art, art across the curriculum, and multicultural art. Students will learn about new artists, and new techniques. We also offer a gifted and talented art program. Students who are referred are screened, and then become part of an after school program where we focus on developing art skills, and expanding our art knowledge. It is a great opportunity for students who show a special talent for art. I am looking forward to working with your child this year! ESOL Welcome to the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program at Hardeeville Elementary School! Our ESOL Program strives to assist learners in the process of acquiring English as a second language, creating a learning environment which provides the cognitive and affective support to help students, whose primary home language is a language other than English, integrate into their school, community, and society. The South Carolina ESOL Standards, as well as the Jasper County School District ESOL Curriculum are used to guide instruction in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The goal of our ESOL program is to provide equal opportunities to students who speak another language and are not yet proficient in English. The goal of Jasper County School District’s English as a Second Language Program is to provide equal educational opportunities to students who have a primary home language other than English. Jasper County Schools strive to create a learning Environment which provides the cognitive and affective support to help students whose primary home language is other than English integrate into their school, community, and society. The functional goal for each student should be to achieve listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency to be exited from the program and successfully acclimated to the mainstream classroom and school. Mrs. Chaves and Mrs. Cimpric serve the ESOL students in Hardeeville Middle and High School. Parents are welcome to contact them to extension 6202 and 6809for further information. Music Notes The students are stepping into a brand new year in music in 2009-.2010. They are busy learning new things; experiencing a variety of music styles, singing new songs, and even creating music. When you pass the music room, you may hear what seems to you to be chaos, but we are making music. Our first unit in all grades focused on steady beat and the rhythms of life. The students are learning that songs, poems, cheers, names, and even our rules have rhythm. Mrs. Scudder Class web site Physical Education I would like to welcome everyone to an exciting school year. I would like to promote for every student to be fit and healthy Eat right and exercise every day! Lets have a great year. Coach Roberson |
